Losing weight for the summer is something that plagues the population like an epidemic. Millions of people try out the latest fads but what's a simple way to get that beach body?
If there's one life hack that you can add to your bag of tricks it's cutting out soda. A typical soft drink contains 182 calories (21 fl oz)! A Gallup Poll from 2012 found that 48% of Americans drink at least one soft drink a day with the average amount being 2.6 glasses. A glass equals 8 fl oz but I'd bet that most people equate a glass to at least 12 oz (a can of soda = 12 oz) which would be 31.2 fl oz (2.6 x 12 fl oz) or 270 calories! But for the sake of the argument, lets take a conservative figure and say the average American drinks one 21 fl oz of soda a day.
One pound of body fat equates to approximately 3500 calories while a 21 fl oz soda a day over the course of a week equals 1274 calories (182 calories per day). What do all these numbers mean? It basically means that if you cut out that soda a day you'll lose a half pound of fat a week! Note: this is a rough estimate since physical activity and body composition also plays a factor.
