We get this question a lot, "Why Hemp Protein?"
We could have chose a bunch of different proteins and we actually do have Organic Brown Rice protein included in our bars as well as our "Plant Protein" to boost the actual protein content per gram. But we specifically wanted to use Hemp as a base because of it's balance of amino acids, omega fatty acids, and high fiber content.
When a lot of customers compare it to Whey they ask if it's more expensive? True, it is more expensive pound for pound. This is because of the illogical restrictions of growing hemp. (You can research that whole issue on your own and you'll see how backwards the thinking is...) But as it stands, if you compare Hemp to Whey, gram for gram, Whey is cheaper compared to premium Canadian Hemp.
Whey is an excellent choice as well, very high in Branch Chain Amino Acids, but lacks the other aspects that make Hemp so appealing (fiber, omega fatty acids, and plant based environmental factors). But if you're after high protein amount, it's hard to beat Whey & Casein (both derived from cow milk). And that's why we use growth hormone free Whey & Casein in our 31 Muscle Recovery.
I personally use animal based proteins (whey & casein in our 31 Muscle Recovery) AND plant based proteins (Plant Protein & Hemp Gold). I feel that both have their pros and cons and what we strive to do is to give you the most information so that you can make your own decision. One is not necessary bad, it's just stronger in certain areas than the other.
