The Lawrence Kenshin youtube channel did an interesting video breaking down the history and techniques of last night's UFC Fight Night 148 Main Event:
Anthony Pettis used Muay Thai history to defeat Thompson's Karate last night.
Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Those who learn from history are destined to conquer it.
Pettis moved up to the welterweight and defeated Stephen Thompson, the greatest American Karate style fighter to compete in the UFC.
Pettis is coached by Duke Roufus, the man who gave the famous "low kick speech" after seeing his brother get stretchered out by Changpuek Kiatsongrit.
This fight would change most American fighters' thoughts on how to stand in order to defend against the low kick.
By combining what they learned in this fight with what Rick Roufus did best in the fight (the superman punch / hook that broke Changpuek's jaw, Anthony Pettis scored a phenomenal KO victory.
