Vegetables can be a great source of protein. We comprised a list of the top 5 vegetables that contain high ratios of protein to calories.

Some of our favorites did not make the top 5 such as Brocolli, Spinach, Asparagus, Mushrooms, and Artichoke. Note: protein is just one characteristic to judge the nutritional quality of a vegetable. It's best to get a varied mix of fruits and vegetables. We recommend athletes strive to consume as many different colors of fruits and vegetables (ex: red - strawberry, yellow- squash, etc.). A simple way to remember this rule is to think of a rainbow and hit all the colors.
