Sent in by Dan "Danimall" Ige, this is a quick and healthy way to fuel up to kick your day's ass.
We particularly like this breakfast bowl because of the abundance of superfoods, simplicity, and taste. Most breakfast bowls we've come across lack in one or more areas.
Start off with 3-4 tablespoons of oat bran. Oat bran is the casing of the oat grain, offering ample amounts of fiber, protein, and selenium.
Next add chia seeds. If you aren't familiar with Chia seeds, they are the 'poi' of the Aztecs and Mayans back in the day. Chia is extremely nutrient dense containing 11 grams of Fiber, 4 grams of Protein, 9 grams of Fat (5 of which are Omega-3s) and a significant amount of Manganese, Magnesium, and Phosphorus per serving.
Now add 1/2-1 scoops of our superfood Hemp Gold that contains 11 grams of protein per serving. Hemp protein is especially beneficial because of it's balance of Omega fatty acids and inclusion of all 10 essential amino acids. Each serving contains 3 grams of Fiber and a near perfect ratio of 3.38:1 (omega-6:omega:3). You can read a ton of literature on the benefits of Hemp, but one of the main benefits is its anti-inflammatory effects on the body.
The recipe then calls for 2 tablespoons of almond butter. Almond butter is a good addition primarily for its healthy fats (18g of fat per serving mostly composed of unsaturated fatty acids), fiber and protein.
Next, add raisins or other dried fruits for a little bit of sweetness, flavor and more vitamins & minerals. Finally, pour in your hot water and mix. It should end up being a thicker consistency with most of the water being absorbed. The entire recipe should take you less than a few minutes to pour and mix together and will keep you full until your next eating.
3-4 tbsp oat bran
2 tbsp chia seeds
1/2-1 scoop hemp gold
2 tbsp almond butter (or any other nut butters)
Handful of raisins or dates
Pour in hot water and mix to your preferred consistency
